This morning, at 7:16am I received an email, from Canon, about the status of my EF 50mm f/1.4 USM, which was submitted for repair due to the inherent fragility of the lens’ autofocus design.
Without explicitly acknowledging that the EF 50mm f/1.4 suffers from a design flaw, Canon accepted my argument that the autofocus system failure should be covered under warranty, despite the fact that the 1 year standard warranty expired more than 6 years ago.
Now, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Canon’s “repair” consists of sending me a new EF 50mm f/1.2L… mounted on a 5D Mark III (for safe keeping).
A man can dream, though… a man can dream.
