Motorsports

My interest in motorsports photography was a natural combination of my background in sports photography – shooting various levels of professional and amateur soccer for Eurosport and ACC events in the Triangle for school papers – and my new-found passion for racing.

In 2003, I purchased a BMW 6-series coupe and with the urging of a friend, began a journey that eventually led to me building a dedicated race car. Sprint racing means spending long hours at the track with lots of downtime. It only seemed logical that I take my camera along and camp-out off one of the corners and experiment with whatever rounded the bend.

The photo above is the #97 Turner Motorsports E46 M3, driven by Anders Hainer and Boris Said, racing in the Grand-Am Cup at Virginia International Raceway, October 7, 2006.
